CDU Secretary General Linnemann renounces cabinet posts

CDU Secretary General Linnemann announced in parallel with the start of the SPD members' vote on the coalition agreement that he does not want to become Minister for Economic Affairs.

The CDU general secretary Carsten Linnemann stood in the election campaign for a change of policy in Germany. Now he gives Friedrich Merz a rejection. He does not want to be part of the new government.

CDU Secretary General Linnemann will not take over a ministerial office in the new federal government of the Union and SPD. He stated in a video on Platform X that he wanted to remain Secretary General instead and push for the change of policy in Germany.

He was regarded as a favorite for the office of Minister of Economic Affairs. But now CDU General Secretary Linnemann has made it clear that he will remain on his post and will not take over a ministerial office. Why not? Linnemann refers to his "feeling of the belly".
