In Libya, the surprise attack carried out on Saturday 31 January by an armed group against several military positions of the Libyan National Army (ANL) led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, on the border with Niger in southern Libya, is, according to several experts, an "unusual development" that could be linked to the attack on Niamey airport, Niger, during the night of 28-29 January, and to the Sudanese file.
The armed forces of Khalifa Haftar (LNA), which control the east and much of southern Libya, referred to a "loose attack led by mercenary groups and outlawed terrorist gangs" on 31 January.
