Lee Corso to be honored at ESPYS as he begins his farewell from ‘College GameDay’

LOS ANGELES, JUL 16 – Lee Corso, the last original College GameDay panelist, is retiring after 38 years and will make his final broadcast on Aug. 30, 2025, ESPN announced.

  • Honoring Corso at Wednesday’s ESPYS in Los Angeles, he received a tribute including a USC marching band performance and a final segment before his Aug. 30 farewell in Columbus, Ohio.
  • A veteran College GameDay analyst, Corso will turn 90 next month and announced his retirement earlier this summer.
  • As part of the tribute, ESPN presented a highlight reel, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee appeared on stage with him, and the USC marching band performed during the tribute.
  • Highlighting his departure, ESPN’s president of content Burke Magnus said, `it’s a fitting way to begin his departure`, marking the end of an era for College GameDay as it loses its last original panelist.
  • Leading into the season opener, ESPN announced it has special programming planned in the days before College GameDay’s 39th season in Columbus for the Ohio State-Texas matchup.
