The continued escalation of hostilities in Lebanon and the devastating consequences it is having for children are of grave concern, said Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Lebanese Minister of Public Health Rakan Nasreddine reported this Sunday that 394 people have been killed by the intense Israeli air offensive in the country. 83 of them would be children. In addition, the Lebanese authorities have counted 1,130 wounded during the attacks, 254 minors. The targets, said Nasreddine, "are not combatants or military installations."
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced that the Israeli army has killed at least 83 children and injured 254 others in Lebanon since March 2.
