According to the latest KSH data, the number of employed people has continued to decrease, but unemployment has not increased.
This time of year is usually when employment increases and unemployment decreases. Now the opposite is happening.
In the February-April period, the number of employed people decreased by 32 thousand compared to the same period of the previous year, and the unemployment rate rose to 4.4 percent. The average duration of the job search was 13.1 months.
In April 2025, the average number of employed people aged 15–74 was 4 million 666 thousand. The number of unemployed people was 215 thousand, the unemployment rate was 4.4%.
Surprisingly unpleasant employment data came out of Hungary this morning. According to economic analysts, the number of employed people does not usually decrease so quickly, so the current data is definitely a warning sign.
