- On Jan. 31, a Learjet 55 operated by Med Jets plunged about a minute after takeoff from Northeast Philadelphia Airport and slammed into Cottman Avenue near Roosevelt Mall, igniting a massive fire.
- Authorities reported that the wreckage stretched roughly 1,410 feet long, injured at least 24 people, and damaged around 350 properties near Roosevelt Mall, Philadelphia.
- The plane's insurer has asked a federal judge to oversee payouts, as the Mexican insurer for Med Jets warns claims could exceed the $10 million insurance policy and the city of Philadelphia reported more than $2.5 million in emergency-response damages.
- The National Transportation Safety Board reported that the flight voice recorder was inoperable and no crew distress calls were recorded, limiting the ongoing crash investigation and highlighting an earlier Med Jets crash.
