Langley-Walnut Grove stays Conservative in B.C. election
Van Popta won 55.44% of the vote as the Conservatives secured a majority government and kept the Langley–Walnut Grove riding.
On Saturday, Langley-Walnut Grove Conservative MLA Misty Van Popta retained her seat as the Conservatives won a majority government, celebrating with family.
The riding, first contested in 2024 after boundary changes, was previously represented by NDP MLA Megan Dykeman until Van Popta unseated her. Van Popta had served as a Township councillor before her provincial role.
Van Popta secured 7,552 votes, or 55.44 per cent of the total, defeating NDP candidate Holly Isaac, who received 4,362 votes, or 32.02 per cent. Green Party candidate Sam Meyer and CentreBC's Kyle Stevenson trailed with 1,107 and 586 votes respectively.
Thanking supporters, Van Popta said, "More than Langley has spoken for that decisive change," and noted her Victoria priorities include Langley Memorial Hospital, long-term care, and schools.
NDP candidate Holly Isaac congratulated Van Popta and expressed pride in her campaign team, pledging to remain active in the community. "I'm kind of hard to get rid of," Isaac joked.
