Usually, the Lalbaugcha Raja Ganesh idol immersion is carried away by shifting an idol on a raft before 9 am, in the deep sea at Girgaon Chowpatty in south Mumbai.
In Mumbai, the immersion procession of Lalbaug Ka Raja continued throughout the night. Passing through different areas, Ganpati Bappa reached the sea shore, where the idol was immersed. Ganpati Bappa's chariot was taken from different places dancing and singing with drums. A large number of people gathered during this time.
When the grand idol of Lalbaugcha Raja comes out of his pavilion, he is bid farewell at the main gate on the side of the road amidst folk dances, songs and a shower of flowers for about 2 hours. According to the tradition of immersion, before Lalbaugcha Raja is taken out of the pavilion, the Ganesha of the pavilion next to him, called the Ganesha Gali, comes out first.
