Kroger recalls deli items in 28 states over possible listeria contamination
Kroger recalled two deli pasta salads sold at 1,860 stores in 28 states due to possible Listeria contamination; no illnesses reported so far, FDA stated.
- The Kroger Company voluntarily recalled Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad and Smoke Mozzarella Penne Salad on Saturday, covering two premade pasta salads sold at deli counters.
- Kroger Family of Stores said it was notified on September 26 that the pasta inside the salads, made by Nate's Fine Foods of Roseville, California, may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
- The products were sold in 28 states and at 1,860 Kroger Family of Stores locations, including Kroger, Baker's, City Market, Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry's, Gerbes, King Soopers, Payless, Ralphs and Smith's.
- Consumers are being told to throw out or return recalled products, and the Food and Drug Administration said no illnesses have been reported so far.
- Both salads were sold from August 29 through October 2, and Listeria can be serious for young children, elderly people, or people with weakened immune systems.
