- Banning online deliveries, the order also warned authorities would penalise platforms violating the rule, circulated widely online, and left unclear if hotels and eateries in Koraput district were included.
- Residents called the move an infringement and citizens and campaigners in Koraput termed the ban an infringement of personal liberty, while social-media users criticised the focus and constitutional and fundamental-rights critics questioned the morality; Manoj Satyawan Mahajan did not respond to messages seeking clarification.
- Comparable directives elsewhere show that earlier this month, Food Commissioner Ayodhya Manik Chandra Singh announced, `Non-vegetarian food has been banned from being served in hotels and restaurants in Ayodhya Dham`, while the Punjab government last year imposed meat sale bans in holy cities.
