Tycoon Jaswant Rai to take over Nzoia Sugar factory

It’s now official — Nzoia Sugar Factory will be leased to a private investor. The factory’s board chairman, Alfred Khang’ati, has confirmed that businessman Jaswant Rai won the 30-year lease and is expected to take over next week.

Nairobi: The Kenya National Federation of Sugarcane Farmers and the Kenya Union of Sugar Plantation and Allied Workers (KUSPAWU) have welcomed the government’s move to lease four sugar mills – Nzoia, Chemilil, Muhoroni and Soni.
