Final 155 Beagles to Leave Ridglan Farms Breeding Facility by Aug. 12, Rescue Group Says
Guardians of Rescue said the dogs are entering medical care and foster placement as other rescues across Kentucky help with recovery.
- On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, the final 155 beagles were released from Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, as the facility permanently ceased all dog-breeding, sales, research, and testing operations.
- Following break-ins in March and April led by activists, numerous arrests and police investigations ensued after a buyer reported a sick dog, forcing the facility to surrender its breeding license.
- Since April 29, Big Dog Ranch Rescue has relocated 2,115 beagles from the farm, with the final group of 155 including 141 puppies believed to be approximately four months old.
- "This agreement represents a historic victory for these beagles," said Lauree Simmons, founder of Big Dog Ranch Rescue, as the dogs undergo veterinary evaluations, vaccinations, and spaying or neutering before adoption.
