Students and staff surpassed their $70,000 goal and set a new B.C. high school fundraising record, organizers said.
- Okanagan Mission Secondary students raised more than $100,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, setting a record for the largest high school fundraiser in British Columbia and crushing their $70,000 goal.
- Led by Grade 12 event chair London McDougall, over 400 students from OKM, KSS, RSS, and MBSS participated in the months-long effort, transforming a small idea into the school's biggest annual fundraiser.
- The fundraiser concluded with a continuous group run from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the schoolyard, where Canadian Cancer Society Relay specialist Juliet Krilanovich joined teams and praised the community-driven success.
- Leadership teacher Kirsten Mulleny said the event teaches students business and leadership skills, with participants "on cloud nine" after witnessing the tangible impact of their collective passion for giving back.
- Canadian Cancer Society Relay specialist Juliet Krilanovich noted that cancer diagnosis rates improved from one in two to two in five Canadians, crediting signature programs like the Relay for uniting communities and funds.
