Astana: The Kazakhstan government has proposed a number of key measures aimed at reducing excessive dependence on sugar imports and increasing domestic sugar production. A recent analysis found that, in 2025, imported sugar would meet 70.4 percent of the country's total sugar consumption, while sugar produced from local raw materials would meet only 29.
The Muş Sugar Factory has contracted 1600 farmers in 52 villages to process 300,000 tons of beets and produce 42 thousand tons of sugar from beets planted in 51,100 decars. Capacity will be increased to 10,000 tons, while producers will be paid 1.3 billion lire and a contribution of 3 billion lire is expected to contribute to the regional economy.
