France: Justice Reopens Investigation Against Singer and Actor Patrick Bruel for Rape

At least 12 women filed complaints against Patrick Bruel. Some cases, first filed without further action, were reopened and regrouped by the Nanterre Public Prosecutor's Office. A total of 30 women accused the singer of sexual violence.
The 67-year-old singer is accused of rape by Ophélie Fajfer, 19 years old at the time of the alleged acts, which allegedly took place in Provence in 2015.
While French actor and singer Patrick Bruel has already been targeted by four complaints of rape and sexual violence, on Monday 18 May the court announced the reopening of an investigation against him. The investigation had been closed in 2022, after a complaint filed in 2021 for facts dating back to 2015. Some 30 women now accuse the artist.
A week after Flavie Flament filed a complaint against the singer, the Nanterre Public Prosecutor's Office announced that it would reopen two investigations that had been closed.
