- On Thursday, the Rivers State Executive Council revoked the ₦134 billion contract awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for renovation, retrofitting, and furnishing of the Rivers State Secretariat Complex.
- Awarded during emergency rule by Vice Admiral Ibok Ete-Ibas, the contract was said by Dr. Austin Ezekiel-Hart, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, to lack due process.
- The council directed an immediate refund of the �20 billion mobilization fee and approved revalidation of bidding for four major contracts, including the Secretariat renovation and shoreline protection and reclamation works.
- At Government House, Port Harcourt, the State Executive Council meeting on Thursday presided over by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Mr Nelson Chukwudi said the Ibas Administration had cancelled advertised projects and returned bid fees.
- Advertised on February 19, 2025, the earlier notices prompted council approval for revalidation, requiring a fresh bidding for competent and experienced contractors to submit technical and commercial bids.
