India Issued 200 Medical Visas Since Launch of New Afghan Visa in April: Health Ministry
India issued over 200 medical visas since April 2025 and will dispatch cancer medicines and a CT scan machine to Afghanistan to support healthcare capacity-building.
- Since the launch of the new Afghan visa module, India has issued more than 500 visas, including over 200 medical visas, easing access to treatment for Afghan patients.
- Having supplied 327 tonnes of medicines and vaccines, Jagat Prakash Nadda said cancer medicines and a 128-slice CT scanner will be delivered to Afghanistan this month.
- New Delhi highlighted planned clinics and a hospital, including five maternity clinics in Paktia, Khost and Paktika provinces and a 30-bed hospital plus upgrades in Kabul, Afghanistan.
- A symbolic handover of cancer medicines and vaccines was carried out during the meeting, and representatives from both sides at the New Delhi meeting expressed satisfaction, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen healthcare support with the Afghan Ministry of Public Health and Union Health Ministry .
- Officials said capacity-building and further supplies are being arranged as proposals for a radiotherapy machine and additional medical supplies are processed, while Prataprao Jadhav and Afghan Health Minister Jalali discussed a traditional medicine institute and training.
