Buttler and Brook Sparkle as England Goes Top of T20 Rankings with Clean Sweep over India
Buttler and Brook shared an unbroken 215-run stand as England’s 257 set a new men’s T20I record against India, officials said.
On Saturday in Southampton, England captain Jos Buttler scored 131 runs off 64 balls against India, delivering one of his finest T20 performances with 12 fours and eight sixes.
Alongside Harry Brook, Buttler stitched together an unbroken 215-run stand for the second wicket, powering England to 257 runs and the top T20 ranking after beating India by 56 runs.
India's former vice-captain Axar Patel endured his toughest T20 spell, conceding 63 runs across four overs without a wicket, while dropped catches by Shivam Dube and Ishan Kishan proved costly for the Indian side.
Buttler's 131 eclipsed Evin Lewis's 125 as the highest individual T20I score against India, while the partnership broke the previous second-wicket record held by Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma.
England's dominance was evident as their bowling attack restricted India to 201-8, with all-rounder Sam Curran taking 3-36 and leg-spinner Adil Rashid claiming 2-24 to secure a 56-run victory.
