SUWAYDA, SYRIA, JUL 23 – The aid convoy includes 22 trucks carrying food, water, and medical supplies to support more than 130,000 displaced by deadly sectarian clashes in southern Syria.
- A second SARC convoy rolled on Wednesday, sending 22 aid trucks to Suwayda, marking its second such mission since clashes erupted.
- Fighting driven by sectarian divides has displaced over 145,000 people and killed hundreds, threatening Syria’s post-war transition.
- According to Syrian officials, the convoy carried thousands of food baskets, 66 tonnes of flour, water, fuel, and medical supplies.
- Nearly 38,000 people have received food aid, while mobile medical teams have delivered over 3,500 consultations covering trauma care, maternal health, and psychosocial support.
- Inter-Agency UN missions are planned to assess needs in Dar’a and Rural Damascus, OCHA said, while HRW expressed concerns about safe returns without guarantees.
