Network School in Johor’s Forest City Ordered to Cease Operations After Business Licence Revoked
MBIP said inspections found the company operating without a business licence and using premises for activities not approved under its office-use licence.
- On Tuesday, July 21, the Iskandar Puteri City Council revoked Network School's business licence in Forest City, ordering the company to cease all operations effective July 22 over licensing and premises-use violations.
- Following inspections on July 12, 14, 19, and 20 that uncovered licensing breaches, the council also addressed public concerns that the "digital nomad" community had facilitated Israeli nationals' entry into Malaysia.
- MBIP issued a Stop Business Notice under the 2018 Industrial Licensing By-Laws, while also revoking advertising licences at Jalan Forest City 5 because the signboard did not match approved applications.
- Backing the decision, Johor Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi stated that no organization is above the law, urging the Home Ministry, Immigration Department, and Royal Malaysia Police to investigate potential breaches of entry requirements.
- Onn Hafiz further requested the Digital Ministry and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation to review the organisation's recognition, stressing the need for stronger inter-agency coordination to maintain national security.
