- Rina Sawayama will return as the knife-wielding Akira opposite Yen, who aims to deliver "the most definitive martial arts-infused action film ever made" with new emotional depth and visual language.
- Producers include Chad Stahelski, Erica Lee, and Basil Iwanyk, who oversaw the franchise's $447M-grossing fourth installment, while Mattson Tomlin wrote the screenplay.
