Hugh Laurie, Joe Alwyn Join 'Legacy of Spies' Series
Joe Alwyn and Hugh Laurie join the eight-part espionage series as MI6 agent Jim Prideaux and his boss Control, with Claudia Llosa directing.
- Hugh Laurie and Joe Alwyn have joined the cast of the upcoming BBC and MGM espionage thriller Legacy of Spies, which adapts novels by Carr and features an extensive cast led by Matthew Macfadyen.
- Laurie plays the "morally fickle" Control, while Alwyn portrays the "charismatic" veteran Jim Prideaux "whose off-book exploits in the field ruffle a few feathers back in London."
- Joining the production are Anjana Vasan as the "queen of research" Connie Sachs and Charlotte Ritchie as Ann Smiley, with Claudia Llosa bringing her "vision and cinematic sensibility" to direct.
- Producers Stephen Cornwell and Simon Cornwell describe the series as one of their "biggest budget bets in recent years," adapting a Cold War narrative where field operative Alec Leamas recruits a woman to smuggle Stasi documents.
- Filming for the eight-part drama began in late April, with the series slated to premiere on BBC and MGM.
