Jaylen Brown traded from Boston Celtics to Philadelphia 76ers, ESPN reports
On Wednesday, the Boston Celtics traded All-NBA forward Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for nine-time All-Star Paul George, two first-round picks , and two second-round selections .
Celtics front office leaders debated the decision for days before determining that acquiring the 36-year-old George and draft assets offered the franchise its "best path forward" despite Brown's career-best 2025-26 season.
George, who is six years older than the 29-year-old Brown, earns $54.1 million annually, while Boston holds a $27.7 million trade exception it currently lacks the flexibility to utilize.
In a social media statement, Brown noted he is "still processing how this all went down" while preparing to join a 76ers roster featuring Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe.
Philadelphia's odds to win the NBA Finals jumped to +2500, while Boston's odds fell from +650 to +1000 at DraftKings, placing the Celtics behind the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference.
