Japanese diet may help in fight against depression, study shows
The rate of depressive symptoms was lower among working-age people who consume a Japanese-style diet including rice, miso soup and fish, the first study of its kind recently showed.
The study was conducted on 12,499 employees from five major companies in Japan. The majority of participants were male (88 percent) with an average age of 42.5 years.
Those who eat a lot of ultra-processed foods are at greater risk of developing depression, a new large study at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil shows. The group that ate the most ultra-processed foods had a 42 percent greater risk of developing depressive symptoms compared to the group that ate the least.
