In the context of efforts to modernize its attack capabilities, Japan has selected Mitsubishi to carry out the development of a new anti-ship missile to equip the fighters of the Air Self-Defense Force, which is a long-range precision system. In particular, this would require an investment of 32 billion yen (about 219 million dollars) to be carried out, with the date of entry into service of the missiles set at 2032.
