On Thursday, Jane Doe filed a 12-page declaration in Manhattan federal court recanting her sexual assault allegations against Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter, stating "Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter."

In her declaration, Doe claimed she responded to a Facebook advertisement in autumn 2024 seeking assault allegations against Combs, which "triggered memories of being raped when I was 13 years old," and alleged her lawsuit was filed without her knowledge or authorization.
Following Doe's recantation, Carter is dropping his lawsuit against her, while her new lawyer James Blair Newman Jr. said she maintains being assaulted but was "entirely mistaken" in identifying Carter and "sincerely and unconditionally apologises to Mr. Carter and his family."
Buzbee disputed Doe's account, claiming multiple lawyers heard the same story before he met her, while a March 2025 recording showed Doe saying Carter "didn't have anything" to do with the alleged acts—though Buzbee called it a "pieced-together fabrication.
