Should the government decide to restart gas extraction in Groningen, as a strategic reserve, they won't need to ask NAM for it. The Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (Dutch Petroleum Company) sees no role for itself in operating the gas wells. The company stated this in response to the JA21 initiative bill, which stipulates that the Groningen gas wells should be kept in reserve as a strategic reserve.
