New Study Reveals Discrepancy Between Sea Level Rise Projections And Observations
Global analysis of local data finds most sea-level acceleration is not statistically significant and that projections may be biased upward. A recent study published in the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering by Hessel G. Voortman and Rob De Vos compares local sea-level rise projections from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) with observed […] New Study Reveals Discrepancy Between Sea Level Rise Projections And Observations
Study: 'No Global Acceleration of Sea Level Rise'
A new study by a Dutch engineering consultant found that average annual sea level rise in 2020 was about 1.5 millimeters, significantly lower than the 3 to 4 millimeters often projected by climate scientists and the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
A Global Perspective on Local Sea Level Changes
In 2021, the IPCC published new sea level projections. For the first time, the projections gave insight into expected relative sea level rise locally. A prudent designer of coastal infrastructure will want to know how the local projections compare to local observations.
