Everyone deserves a public media that reports truthfully – Péter Magyar's first post-victory interview at Hungary's public broadcaster
Hungary's public media service has served as a mouthpiece for the governing parties for many years, with the opposition parties given airtime extremely rarely. The Tisza Party has vowed to make the broadcaster truly serve the public again.
During the show, the host and the Hungarian interrupted each other several times.
"The public media has never been flawless, but as long as I worked there, what this blonde lady did would have been unimaginable, because she completely fell out of her role and tried to become a debate partner," wrote Alinda Veiszer.
Peter Magyar, leader of the TISZA party, which won the parliamentary elections in Hungary on Sunday, repeated in an interview with public Radio Kossuth that his government would stop broadcasting public media programs and introduce new institutions to supervise the media.
The radio broadcast was interrupted for a short time, and then the host announced that Péter Magyar's crew had not yet left the broadcast room and were taking photos.
Péter Magyar and his party, Tisza, won the election on Sunday, April 12, with a two-thirds majority. The future prime minister is once again a guest of the public media after a year and a half, on the morning of April 15.
