‘It ruined my retirement’: Locals who fought I-395 connector for years now dread its opening

PENOBSCOT COUNTY, MAINE, JUN 27 – The $107 million, 6-mile road aims to ease truck traffic and improve safety but has decreased property values and disrupted land access for nearly 60 local residents, officials said.

Richard Hatch’s backyard had been a space for him to relax while watching deer and listening to the serene sounds that come from the wooded area for the past two decades.
