Sergeant Ori Greenberg, 21, was killed during a close-range firefight with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon as the IDF intensified operations against cross-border attacks.
- On Friday, Sergeant Moshe Yitzchak Hacohen Katz, 22, from New Haven, Connecticut, was killed during combat in southern Lebanon. Katz served in the Paratroopers Brigade's 890th Battalion.
- Katz, a member of the Chabad Hasidic movement, enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces after living in the United States. His father, Mendy Katz, wrote that his heart is "shattered."
- Three additional soldiers were moderately wounded in the same incident and evacuated to hospitals in Israel. The military confirmed families of all those involved have been notified.
- This death brings the total number of people killed by Hezbollah fire since the start of fighting to eight, including five soldiers and three civilians.
- Since Operation Roaring Lion began February 28, forces have continued scanning southern Lebanon to locate suspected militant infrastructure. Ongoing operations remain active in the region.
