Israeli Soldier Dies in Fights with Hizbollah in South Lebanon, IDF Says

- Katz, a member of the Chabad Hasidic movement, enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces after living in the United States. His father, Mendy Katz, wrote that his heart is "shattered."
- Three additional soldiers were moderately wounded in the same incident and evacuated to hospitals in Israel. The military confirmed families of all those involved have been notified.
- This death brings the total number of people killed by Hezbollah fire since the start of fighting to eight, including five soldiers and three civilians.
