- On Monday, Bezalel Smotrich, Israeli far-right finance minister and security cabinet member, said Hamas may be given an ultimatum to disarm in the coming days and warned `The will definitely enter and occupy Gaza if Hamas does not disarm`.
- The second ceasefire phase, which began last month, sets out a gradual Israeli withdrawal while under the first phase the Israeli army pulled back behind the Yellow Line but still controls over half the territory.
- Smotrich said the army would have international legitimacy and American backing, and the IDF is already preparing plans while examining two or three alternatives for Gaza operations.
- Gaza's health ministry reported 615 people killed by Israeli forces since the truce started amid near-daily violations, while security sources said forces shelled Beit Lahia and fired on Khan Younis; the Israeli military lost five soldiers.
- Smotrich said foreign peacekeepers would pull out quickly to allow Israeli forces entry, adding he did not yet see the 20,000-strong International Stabilisation Force going in that fast.
