Israeli strike kills three Gaza journalists including AFP freelancer
An Israeli air strike killed an AFP freelancer and two other journalists in Gaza on Wednesday, the territory's civil defence agency said, while the military said it struck "suspects" operating a drone.
In Gaza, the Israeli army killed three Palestinian journalists on Wednesday, 21 January, working for a committee overseeing Egyptian aid in Gaza and documenting a camp newly set up in the coastal enclave, ravaged by the war. This is the most deadly conflict ever recorded for journalists, with more than 200 killed by Israel in Gaza since 7 October 2023.
A precarious truce has been in effect since October 10 in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, which both sides accuse each other of violating. Since the end of the fire, more than 470 Palestinians and three Israeli soldiers have been killed.
