"Israeli" Before "Jewish": Survey Reveals Change in Public Identification Patterns

Civil identity before religious or sectarian: The CBS survey reveals that a quarter of Israelis define themselves as "Israeli" as the main definition of their origin - and only a minority choose to identify as "Ashkenazi" or "Mizrahi". Among Arabs, most Muslims define themselves as "Arabs", but 1 in 5 chooses the definition "Palestinian".
