Israel has joined Trump's 'Board of Peace,' Netanyahu says
Israel signed to join Trump’s international Board of Peace to oversee Gaza ceasefire and reconstruction, despite domestic opposition and skepticism over the board’s powers.
- Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced during his Feb. 11 visit to Washington that Israel has formally joined U.S. President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace initiative, signing the accession document during meetings with Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
- The initiative was authorized by a UN Security Council resolution in November, which allows the board and partner countries to create an international stabilization force in Gaza following an October 2025 ceasefire agreed to by Israel and Hamas under a Trump-backed plan.
- Originally designed to oversee Gaza’s temporary governance, the board has since been broadened by Trump to address wider global conflicts. Its first official meeting is scheduled for Feb. 19 in Washington, focusing on Gaza’s reconstruction.
