Israeli forces are now active in nine Lebanese towns close to the region's border. This administrative action is being carried out under Operation Hezbollah. This move is crucial for security control in southern Lebanon and is likely to escalate regional tensions.
The objective could be to establish a control zone up to the Litani River, which runs between 4 and 30 kilometres from the Lebanon-Israel demarcation line, i.e. almost 8 per cent of Lebanese territory.
