Motorcycle Racer Passes Away Following Crash at the Tandragee 100.
He died after being airlifted to hospital, and the Senior Support race was red-flagged twice before being abandoned, organizers said.
On Friday, the North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club confirmed Irish rider James Walsh passed away in hospital following a crash at the Tandragee 100 event last Saturday.
Hours after winning the Junior Support race, Walsh crashed during the Senior Support race on Saturday, June 27, triggering a red flag stoppage.
The North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club stated, "Road racing is a sport built on shared passion and tight bonds," describing the community as "heartbroken" by the loss.
This marks the first death at the Tandragee 100 in nine years, and the second fatal road racing accident in Northern Ireland this year following Kamil Holan's death in May.
Friend Nick Healy paid tribute to the Kinsale native, stating, "He will be greatly missed with his chuckle and positive nature," while the West Cork Motorcycle Club honored him as "a much loved member.
