A forest fire that has been raging for days in the Türkmendağı and Bayırbucak regions of Latakia, Syria, has reached the Hatay border due to winds. Led by the Hatay Governor's Office, 180 vehicles and 800 personnel are working intensively to prevent the fire from spreading to Türkiye. Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı stated, "We are prepared for all risk scenarios."
The fires, which started in Syria a little more than a week ago, are concentrated in the mountainous hinterland of Latakia, on the Mediterranean coast, where dense forests have been weakened by months of insufficient heat and rain.
