Venue for IPL Final Moved From Bengaluru to Ahmedabad
BCCI said logistical and local authority requirements led to a special three-venue playoff schedule and moved the final to Narendra Modi Stadium.
- On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the May 31 Indian Premier League final will move from Bengaluru to The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
- The Board shifted the venue due to "certain requirements" from local authorities and the state association, which fell outside established guidelines for the TATA IPL.
- Qualifier 1 takes place in Dharamsala on May 26, while New Chandigarh hosts the Eliminator on May 27 and Qualifier 2 on May 29 respectively.
- The venue change nullifies potential home advantage for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who were originally designated to host the final in Bengaluru.
- Hosting the final, The Narendra Modi Stadium is the world's largest cricket venue with a capacity of 130,000, while the IPL generates more than $11 billion annually for the Indian economy.
