- The shooting happened after officers attempted to stop a dark-coloured Volvo, believed stolen, whose male driver fired a gun at them and fled.
- An exchange of gunfire occurred near a forest service road in a rural area outside Prince George, where officers located the vehicle and the man got injured.
- The man suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to the hospital, while all officers remained unharmed during both the initial and subsequent exchanges of gunfire.
- The IIO, notified shortly after, is investigating to determine if police actions contributed to the injuries, as mandated by BC's Police Act.
