Investigation After Man Dies Following Assault in Dublin
Gardaí are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage as they investigate the death, with the scene preserved for forensic examination.
On Sunday, a man died following a "fatal assault" in Dublin 7, with Garda discovering him seriously injured on a footpath at Blackhorse Place in the early hours.
The investigation is being coordinated from an incident room at the Bridewell Garda Station under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer. The Blackhorse Avenue scene has been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
Garda are appealing for witnesses who were in the Blackhorse Avenue or Blackhorse Place area between 2:00am and 3:30am on Sunday. Anyone with information can contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
The man was pronounced dead at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital after emergency transport from the scene. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
This incident follows another recent assault in the capital, where a man in his 50s was attacked on Inver Road in Cabra on Monday night. The recurring violence underscores ongoing safety concerns in Dublin.
