INTERVIEW | Sister Marivane Chiesa welcomes migrant women in South Africa

"These women have escaped violence, poverty, and instability. Our mission is to ensure that they not only survive, but also achieve (…) the opportunity for a new beginning," says Sister Marivane Chiesa, director of the Bienvenu shelter in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since 2001, this space for migrant women has offered shelter, job training, childcare, and hope in a country marked by xenophobia and gender-based violence.
