Man recounts violent attack by stranger outside his home

  • On April 15, 2025, Javier Ibarra was violently assaulted by a man near his residence on West Hyde Park Boulevard in Inglewood.
  • The attack started when the suspect confronted Ibarra, directed racial slurs at him, repeatedly struck him, and tried to stab him before escaping by heading west along Hyde Park Boulevard.
  • The suspect is described as a 30 to 40-year-old, 6-foot-tall, 200-pound male with a stomach tattoo and a mole between his left eye and nose, wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and black gloves.
  • Ibarra sustained fractures to his face and a cut near his eye during the assault, lost his house keys in the process, and stated he would be able to identify the attacker if he sees him again; meanwhile, police are asking anyone with information to call 310-412-5206.
  • Authorities are treating the incident as a potential hate crime and continue to seek tips from the public. The suspect may be linked to a Chevrolet Malibu from the model years 2008 to 2012, possibly in silver, blue, or green, featuring tinted windows on the rear side.
