PSEi slips ahead of inflation data
MANILA, Philippines – The local bourse slipped on Monday as investors pocketed gains and braced for upcoming inflation data. By the end of the session, the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) had shed 0.68 percent, or 43.33 points, to close at 6,364.94. Consumer prices rose by 2.2 percent year-on-year in June, which is 0.4 percentage points more than in May. Year-on-year inflation has thus returned to above two percent. Compared to the beginning of the year, prices were 2.6 percent higher at the end of June. On a monthly basis, inflation in June was 0.8 percent.
