INDIA, AUG 9 – India's S-400 system shot down five Pakistani jets and destroyed parked F-16s during a four-day escalation, effectively neutralizing threats 300 km away, officials said.
- On Saturday, the IAF chief disclosed that Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh said the Indian S-400 shot down five Pakistani fighter jets and a Pakistani surveillance aircraft at about 300 km from Jacobabad air base.
- Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 innocent people.
- Using the Russian-origin S-400 air defence system, the IAF destroyed some parked F-16 jets at Jacobabad air base and targeted nine terror camps, killing around 100 militants, according to defence sources.
- The strikes damaged two command and control centres at Murid and Chaklala, prompting Pakistan to seek a ceasefire after three days of hostilities.
