Ericsson to Export India-Made Antennas to Europe; India Has Competitive Edge for 6G: Executive
Ericsson said 15,000 antennas and 25 million components have been produced in India since July 2025 as it expands toward 6G-ready networks.
On Wednesday, Swedish telecom gear maker Ericsson announced it will export India-made antennas to Europe, Andres Vicente, Senior Vice President and Head of Market Area South East Asia, Oceania, and India, Ericsson, confirmed at the India Mobile Congress 2026.
Ericsson established local manufacturing in India in 1994, building on a 123-year history to produce all 4G and 5G radios for the domestic market today.
Citing 5G adoption figures, Vicente highlighted that India's mid-band coverage reaches 95 per cent of the population, with the country boasting "India is the country with the highest usage in the world per customer."
Ericsson hit a milestone producing more than 15,000 antennas and 25 million components since July 2025; Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System, Ericsson, said this strengthens both local and global operations.
India holds a competitive advantage for 6G development because the difficult part of setting the right network architecture is already complete, positioning the nation for next-generation high-performing, AI-ready networks.
