India to Build First Cross-Border Railway with Bhutan

- India and Bhutan have agreed to launch two cross-border railway projects connecting Banarhat to Samtse and Kokrajhar to Gelephu.
- One railway line will link India's northeastern city of Kokrajhar with Bhutan's border town Gelephu, while the other will connect Bhutan's industrial hub Samtse with India's Banarhat.
- The envisaged investment for these projects, designed to be environmentally friendly, is about Rs 4,033 crore covering a total length of roughly 90 km.
