In Roger Williams' Rhode Island, banning books is a departure from our heritage - The Boston Globe

Bills recently introduced in the General Assembly would make it harder to take books off of public shelves by requiring that people challenging reading materials live near the school or library they’re challenging, writes a local author.

Encouraged by the White House, bullying campaigns targeting bookstores and libraries have taken on a new dimension. Their aim is to ban from the shelves books on sexuality, gender identity or the fight against discrimination. There is a strong fear that publishers will give up publishing certain authors.

More and more books are being removed from libraries in the US, but the Trump administration denies censorship.
