Ukraine's drone attack sparks fires in Rostov region, Russia says
ROSTOV OBLAST, RUSSIA, AUG 5 – The overnight drone strike targeted a key logistics hub supporting oil and grain transport, causing at least 10 explosions and regional power outages, officials said.
- On August 5, Ukrainian drones targeted the Tatsinskaya railway station in Rostov Oblast, sparking fires at a power substation, local media reported.
- The operation follows Ukraine’s strategy, with drones operated by Ukraine's Security Service striking five Russian fighter jets in Saky, Crimea, overnight on Aug. 4.
- Russia's defence units reported at least 10 explosions and destroyed 24 Ukrainian drones overnight, including seven over the Rostov region, as air defenses responded, local media noted.
- He said Rostov's acting governor Yuri Slyusar reported no injuries and confirmed the fire at the substation covering about 500 square metres was extinguished.
- Donenergo reported that mobile networks partially shut down after Ukrainian drones hit the Tatsinskaya railway station, a key oil and grain logistics hub in Rostov Oblast.

A Russian court fined a train passenger 30,000 rubles (about $375) for shouting an anti-Russian slogan during a Ukrainian drone attack. According to local court records, “M.E. Reutt” was traveling from Samara to the Black Sea resort of Adler on July 18. She allegedly yelled, “That’s what you deserve, Russians!” as drones struck railway infrastructure outside Rostov. She was later convicted of “discrediting” Russia’s army.
