EADaily, January 1st, 2025. After a decrease in electricity generation at MoldGRES, which operated on Russian gas, Moldova switched to supplies from Romania. The Moldovan state-owned company Energocom assures that in January Romania will provide up to 62% of the republic's electricity needs.

Energocom announced that it has covered the electricity needs for January 2 by contracting unused capacities at Romania's borders with other neighbors. The reservation of these volumes is necessary because the commercial capacity allocated at the border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova is limited to 315 Megawatts out of the 650-800 Megawatts needed.

Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja explained that he made this clarification to combat toxic propaganda.
